I went to Costco today for the first time ever, not just in Taiwan. Walking down the aisles and seeing the Fruit Roll-ups and the Apple Jacks was like a kid in the candy store. I was in consumerism heaven full of giant boxes of cereal, penne pasta, and Prego sauce that will last me for the rest of year that I’m here. I also had a hot dog, a real hot dog with mustard and ketchup, at the food court area. It was so amazing.
I think I would miss American food too much to live in Taiwan forever.
In fact, I discovered that one of the restaurants in the Far Eastern Plaza Hotel here in Taipei is having a real Thanksgiving meal for up to $890NT a person. They are also selling real Thanksgiving food like honey-baked ham, sweet potatoes with marshmellows, pumpkin pie, etc. available for pick-up. Jen and I are definitely getting in on that, most likely with the pick-up, and having our own real meal on Thanksgiving.
I can’t wait!
P.S. It has rained for about five days straight. Not cool.
Por ti volaré
Cuando vivo solo
sueño un horizonte
falto de palabras.
En la sombra y entre luces
todo es negro para mi mirada.
Si tú no estas’ junto a mí . . . aquí.
Tú
en tu mundo
separado del mio por un abismo.
Oye
llamame
yo volaré
a tu mundo lejano.
Por ti volaré
espera que llegaré
mi fin de trayecto eres tú
contigo yo viviré.
Por ti volaré
por cielos y mares
hasta tu amor.
Abriendo los ojos por fin
contigo yo viviré.
Por ti volaré
por cielos y mares
hasta tu amor.
Abriendo los ojos por fin
contigo viviré.
i haven’t had a better hot dog in taipei yet. it helps they have the onions and condiments.. though it cracks me up all the people who pile all the condiments on a plate and take it home!
